Evie Cahir's practice explores the dynamic relationship between colour and light, inviting the viewer to reflect on how they process light and inhabit space. Through the unique combination of materials like gouache, soft pastel and oilstick, she investigates and celebrates this interrelated nature of light and colour.
Cahir's work invites viewers to reflect on their own experience with space, both visually and bodily. Drawing inspiration from Fauvism, a vibrant and audacious art movement that emphasised bold, expressive colour, Cahir creates a rich, atmospheric language that not only captures the vitality of nature but also encourages a contemplative engagement with the viewer's surroundings. This focus on colour as a vehicle for emotional and spatial awareness forms the core of her artistic exploration and expression.
Born 1992, Ballarat, Victoria.
